Anniversary of First American EVA

June 3, 1965... Ed White does the first "space walk." 49 years ago today.

Not surprisingly, we are not taught the date of the Soviet Union's first EVA.

Why do I bring this up? At a time when radios and televisions still had 12ax7 vacuum tubes, we managed to have a tether for the EVA. In KSP, we float fearlessly without one.

It's a sobering moment when you realise how much we have stagnated.

49 years ago, we were in LEO. A wasteful shuttle and some Moonshots later, where are we?

Low Earth Orbit. Nothing has changed.

I felt the same with NASA's 55th Anniversary.

55 years. And look at the accomplishments. Significant, but a mere pittance compared to what we could've accomplished. Only if this, only if that, it appears that in the field of space exploration, everything politically wise goes wrong. We could've built a moonbase. We could've had boots on Mars by now. Only if this, if that, if all these scenarios.

*grumble grumble*

On a more cheerful note, let us toast to the future success of the SLS.

Cheers.

For we have a jetpack with quite good precision and really good fuel reserves.

Reminds me that I still havent watched more than the first episode of From The Earth To The Moon - Game of Thrones and double XP event at World of Tanks got in the way here. :P
