Asteroid spawning frequency

Technically, asteroids only spawn when you track unknown objects, so you have full control over how frequently asteroids spawn.

As for the rate of unknown objects spawning, why is that too fast? Just track the ones you're interested in, the others disappear after a while.

I'm new to KSP and I was wondering about the unknown objects. It seems like you start out with 7 or something (at work right now), but there's no way for me to locate them from what I can tell. I don't want to miss out on any opportunities.

How can I find them?

In the tracking station, when clicking on an unknown object, where you would normally fly/terminate/recover, one of them will be a blue button with a tracking dish. Hope it helped.

Wait! I just thought of something. You say when I click on an unknown object I ought to be given a tracking dish button; but I never notice any changes to the map indicators when I highlight/isolate unknown entities at the top of the screen. Do they have to be within a certain distance or something?

You have to be zoomed out enough to see them. Zoom out until you can see the Kerbin's orbit around the sun and you should see some grey circles with question marks inside them. Click on one of these.

You have to be tracking the object to see its path on the map. As someone mentioned, its a blue dish you click. This button will be fairly discreet.....right over where the "fly" and "abort" buttons are. Took me ages to figure it out. Thankfully there's the forums!

Well, actually, it replaces the green Recover button.
