I was looking though my persistence file and found this:

STS-1 was my first orbit and it did have 2 crew, This also shows which craft first reached the mun and which returned!

It also says which craft orbited the sun first but this is actually an asteroid since they are "vessels"

Yeah, it's been in the save file forever but for some reason never exposed in the game interface. Maybe it still has bugs (.23.5 introduced one with asteroids being considered first vessels), maybe Squad just haven't got round to it.

That's the data saved by the progress tracker which was introduced in 0.20 or what was the last update before the science one, it has been at the end of the persistence and save files ever since. It notes how far have you been to every body. If you landed somewhere, only did a flyby through the SoI or orbited and at what altitude.

It's been lying in the code ever since both to track how far players have gotten in the game as feedback to the devs and to be used in the future (read: now) to develop the contract generation system (so the system doesn't give you fly to jool missions when you didn't reach low Kerbin orbit yet).
