Rep in The Space Lounge

Not sure if anyone has asked but... why can't you give Reputation to someone in The Space Lounge section of the forum?

This must be intentional. However I can't think of a good reason. It would be nice to give rep for a good post in any forum section.

Anyone else think the same?

Can a mod provide a reason for this at least - happy to be persuaded with a good reason.

I can't think of a reason for this either, I'll ask around and if noone has an answer I'll change it

As far as I recall, the reason was that rep was supposed to actually mean something, rather than being awarded for all sorts of off-topic stuff, and forum games.

Forum games has more KSP related things than the space lounge.

EDIT: let's take the first 5 pages as an example, thread count is 7:3 to forum games.

Once you realize how meaningless they are, you don't feel as cool Besides, if only popularity meant quality...

It can also serve as a little "thank you" without cluttering up the fora (that said, the "must spread rep around" works directly against that - IMO, rep is better if attached to posts and not users, than to users and not posts).

I dunno, it's not totally useless. If you look at the members with the most rep, most of them are good contributors to the community. (Except me, most of my rep is due to the proximity of the "Give Rep" button to the "Report Post" button.)
