So an update on the availability. It works great for me, which is super frustrating because it's harder to diagnose. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with linode connectivity with Europe, and I've been talking with their support about it. It's getting fixed, slowly. I am going to move to another host soon - I chose linode because it's cheap and effective but I'm going to end up spending a lot of money on linode anyway. Those of you who are affected by this trouble, please sit tight - I'll be able to do a migration to a service I have more faith in once my next paycheck arrives. Sorry for the trouble! I have never hosted Kerbal Stuff before and I'm still feeling out exactly how to do it right.

Looking to mirror some of my mods on Kerbal Stuff (see this post), but the registration system has eaten the confirmation email that's supposed to go out for my account (account name is nightingale). I've tried resetting the password (the email for which comes through fine), but that still doesn't give me access). I've tried emailing the official support email - but I've gotten no response there in over 24 hours. Can someone help me with this?

Sorry I missed this. I manually confirmed your account, you can now log in. In the future, please email [email protected] for issues like this (as suggested by the registration page ;)).

The connectivity problems I'm seeing, are in accessing it from the US, not Europe. :) But it's sporadic. Most of the time it comes up fine.

Actually I use Linode as well, and have had almost zero problems with it. Maybe it's that particular colo? They're pretty good about letting you migrate to one of their other datacenter locations if you want.

I just wanted to elaborate on this a bit:

I've been a customer of Linode for over a decade, going back to when it was just one guy running it, with only a few dozen servers. They've grown enormously since then, mainly because of just how good the service is. They've had some hiccups, as any company will. But most of the problems I've seen over the years had more to do with the datacenters that they're renting space in.

For instance, the "remote hands" services have sometimes re-cabled the wrong server, or tripped power to a couple of racks, or have had routing issues, or whatever.

Linode used to be based on "user mode linux", and held out on migrating to Xen visualization until it had the IO contention controls they needed. So what did they do when this wasn't progressing? Wrote a lot of it themselves and submitted it up the chain. I think they did a lot of that with UML previously as well.

They have some really sharp people on staff there, and their support has always been top-notch. So if there are connectivity problems, I'm sure they'll be helpful, even if just to move your node to another datacenter.

Coming up on some extended downtime (measured in hours). Please bear with me for a moment.

Is it safe to assume that downtime has started? Any ETAs? I was just firing up CKAN to set up my mods for a stream tomorrow and was confused for a moment about why they couldn't be downloaded. Thanks for all your work, hopefully things come out better on the other side of this downtime!

Got a question - I updated Kerbal Alarm Clock last night, but received no email as a follower. Are there any known issues with that function currently, or is it going to be something related to using the API?

Any thoughts?

I wonder if that was a transient issue, or was fixed already? I didn't get an email about KAC updating either, but I did get one about my update of SpaceY this morning.

Congrats!

As I said in the Reddit thread, I think this really does speak volumes as to how the community feels about Curse. Despite it being the 'official' source of mods, the community went with KerbalStuff.

Squad is known for listening to its community, so listen to them now. Ditch Curse and give your support to the community run program.
