Staging - Component Names and Part/Staging-stack visual linking

Haven't seen this one suggested after searching through the archives...

I think it might be quite helpful to allow the naming of parts (a tweakable?) so that when mousing over the item in the staging stack we could see the specific user applied name. I know a is part is already highlighted in the VAB/SPH but this is insufficient when working on complex constructions with layers of parts which obstruct the view.

Additionally, it might also be helpful to have a visual indicator line linking the stack icon to the part when moused over.

Hope it helps - if I get a minute I will create a mockup image to indicate my concept. Might be a few days though as I'm moving house.

The staging UI is a bit of a mess for complex craft. Your suggestions seem like good ideas to improve it.

I would add mouseover tooltip-style text for each icon, giving a better description (which specific engine type, etc).

Having a component name on hover would be extremely helpful with some more complex crafts.

These could be handy for an improved PartHighlighter. I thought about the visual indicator line when I was writing it, but wasn't sure if it would make the screen too busy or not. I'll mess with it today because I could definitely see some possibilities here.

This is the first time I've seen your highlighter. Fantastic! With the addition of the connector line I think it would suffice. Very nice indeed. I'll have to implement that mod straight way!

Only thing left for squad would be tweak able part names.
