Save Breaking Debate - Resurrected

Will the saves be broken?

  1. 1. Will the saves be broken?

Wow, what a great reason for devs, who are the only ones who actually know the answer, to actually say something.

just bumping for this. if its in experimentals right now ,someone already knows the answer. telling us this wont spoil the update in anyway so give us a concrete answer please.

I just saw Harv saying 0.24 will be using 64-bit Unity. That (hopefully) means multi-threaded physics that'll take advantage of the wasted 3/4ths of my PC. For that, he can break the save if it helps!

It means no such thing. 64-bit does not magically allow a process to parallelize computations.

Sandbox saves will most likely make it, considering no parts are taken out and there are no new variables there.

Career saves, however, probably won't. It'd be much easier to do a new career WITH money than suddenly try and earn money in the middle of constructing a Jool ship in late career mode.

I just wish they'd frikking tell us this, it's really useful information and doesn't spoil what's going to be in the update... It just saves hassle. :\

They usually do say if an update will break saves. As they have not done that the signs are that it will not.

Very true. The latest unity however does have multi threaded phys-x so we have that to look forward to.

If we can have 64 bit, then they can break, crush and burn all my old saved games.

If we can have 64 bit, I will scream at myself for 30 hours straight for accidentally buying 32-bit Win 8 for the budget gaming PC I built. 8GB of pretty nice DDR3 (possibly 4) RAM, and only 2.96GB useful. I have to end tons of tasks before starting KSP. D:

Yes, thank you. These threads that do not have any facts backing them up at all are unnecessary. These threads fill with everyone's opinions and theories, but in the end, they are pointless (there are exceptions). We just don't know if they'll break the saves or not.

(Bolding and italicizing for emphasis)

One of my threads like this once got HarvesteR to announce he chose to pack all the save-breaking updates into one huge update so they didn't have to break saves in the next updates. This is why I make these, so the devs can see what we think, and maybe, *wink wink ;)* tell us what they know... :)

There is some screaming going on at your house tonight.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
