I want to build stupidly big stuff!

Recommended Posts

I want to built a Dyson sphere. I want to build a space elevator. I want to build a ringworld. I want to do stupidly big stuff like in Minecraft.

Part count, lag, memory restriction, etc all stop this from happening.

I know some of the technical reasons why not but it doesn't stop me being incredibly frustrated with KSP! I'd quite happily give up all the cutesy graphics and stuff of KSP to be able to do more.

I've yet to have a large ship crash my computer rig, but I also invested in my hobby. 64-bit KSP is on the way to allow more RAM usage.

I get a little lag when I run the game (with larger ships) on my lenovo laptop, but get no issues at all on my gaming PC. I would assume this is because of the slower processor and hard drive write speeds. I found that playing KSP off of an available SSD gives it a good boost over a HDD.

Ringworld would be an interesting KSP challenge though... would take FOREVER. :sealed:

A Dyson Sphere is pretty much right out. Why would you want to enclose the entire Kerbol system in panelling, anyway?

Space is meant to be open, man. Space is there to be free.

Ah but I'd build it with functioning space doors that I'd have to do fancy flying to avoid scraping on the way out. Or I'd leave polar windows. Or I'd use warp drive to escape.

My imagination is restricted by the game's performance limitations *sigh*

Has someone reconstructed the Death Star in KSP yet?

Imagine a huge Death Star in KSP where you'd have to do pin-point flying down a trench to drop a package down an exhaust duct and set off a chain reaction! Woohoo!

I want a completely different game to KSP that will make my life rich, fulfilled and successful. Why oh why oh why won't Squad fix the universe!

Whut? I can have a nonsensical and pointless rant as well, can't I?

Yes...

I wouldn't call that a fully armed and operational battle station, though. It needs to be bigger, and with more weapons!

EDIT: But the second one is more like it!

That's a little harsh!

I don't want a different game to KSP I would just like the restrictions of the engine and hardware to magically go away.

Surely this game is about imagination so I am allowed some, no?

I unreservedly withdraw 'rant'. You didn't rant and I should not have implied you did.

Which just leaves us with nonsensical and pointless. Sorry, I thought you thought you were being serious.
