Rimworld: Sci-fi colony simulator

Hello! I was playing Rimworld lots today, testing out the latest update. Anyone else play it? For those who don't, it's a rouge-like/city-management/survival game, kind of a mix of Dwarf Fortress and Prison Architect. Your three people crash-land onto a sparsely populated "rimworld", where you must establish a self-sustaining colony. The AI storyteller will throw good and bad events at you. Raiders will target your colony, increasing in numbers as your wealth builds. It's one of my most played games, second only to KSP. It's also a hard one...

Development video:

How do you guys like it? Screenshots would be cool too.

Looks interesting.

How much of the gameplay is already functional?

(especially considering that they (already) want 30$ for it)

Yeah it's not cheap for an alpha. As for gameplay I'd say the core gameplay is definitely functional (colonist management, AI storyteller, etc). It's very complete and playable at the moment, aside from some balancing. The developer is planning on expanding the AI, world generation, graphics, etc.

$30 for an alpha is too much for me. I currently have close to a dozen "early access" games, and there isn't a single one I'd have paid this price for, including KSP. Yes I know KSP is currently $27, but consider it overpriced, too.

To me, once a game passes $20 I want it "feature complete" and with real support. At least supported beta status, in other words. Below $20, it feels more like a toy and I can be nice about the kind of problems I've seen right here several times in my nearly two years. Much more money, though, and those (perfectly expected) problems would start making me angry and spoil my experience.

Note my objection has nothing to do with whether the game's worth the money. It's about my subjective gut reaction to dealing with everyday alpha issues. Everybody will end up feeling that way at some price point. But at the same time, as these games get closer to release it seems reasonable for the price to go up. An interesting quandry for the development houses. :)

Too bad. At $20 I'd have picked Rimworld up just based on your video.

KSP overpriced at 27$?

I respectfully disagree. If I purchased KSP as a gold product for 27$ I would consider it a huge bargain. How many games are released at 40-60$ price points and are absolutely terrible? We could make a very long list.
