I just transferred to steam, how the hell do i tell it to download the 64 bit version?

Edit: I just checked the files, there's a 64 bit exe and data folder. Does the steam version have files for both or what?

Yep. KSP.exe is 32-bit, KSP_x64.exe is 64.

It totally is a bandwitdh issue, when I got through it downloaded fast too, after the traffic died down. That's how that works.

Less than 30 seconds later isn't going to make that much of a difference in the traffic dieing down. They had a few bugs going on in their downloader today. I've also talked to other people who were having problems downloading after I fixed mine, and logging out and back in fixed it for some of them as well (though not all).

I don't see much of a disadvantage to owning it on steam. You can still run it outside of steam by finding the exe and you can backup your installation folder if you want to keep old versions or whatever else you might want to do. So really the only difference right now is that Steam servers can handle the load better and will automatically update the game for you.
