How to stop the steam game from updating?

Recommended Posts

Help! I bought the game on steam and now it's trying to automatically update the game to the new version. I don't want to do that yet because I want to keep playing the career that I started already. But I can't figure out how to stop steam from updating the game and just let me play it! I can pause the download but if I try to play it just starts the download again. And it's already downloaded a bit of it, so I can't go back now?

Argh that sux, yeah might be too late. I just made a post in another thread, Scott Manley gave advice on how to prevent this type of thing... but since it already started, prob too late to save your 0.23.5, perhaps someone else can help you save it.

Yeah, that's what happened I think. I did disable automatic update, but then when I clicked to play it just started to automatically update without even prompting first.

Oh well :( I didn't get very far anyway. I just hope the mods still work in the new version?

Can you not right click on KSp in Steam, go to properties and then the Betas tab and select "Previous version" - that should be set to 0.23.5 now. That will make steam revert to that version. You can then make a folder backup and move it (and run that version separately from steam just by running the EXE from that folder) and then turn off the beta selection in steam and let it proceed with 0.24.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
