Editing Save Files

Recommended Posts

So 0.24 is out, and I kind of have a save going already. I want to completely reset the science and part progress (including science data stored in the labs), ceteris paribus. Anyone knows how to do this, or could direct me to a tutorial on how to do this? For starters, I'm not even sure how to open the save file and edit it.

Thanks in advance!

The file can be opened with any text editor (not wordpad though, much less word!). Then just look and read, it all makes sense. But finding all traces of science on every vessel will be a lot of work.

Ahhhh, I only have Wordpad and Word. Any text editors to recommend?

EDIT: Does Notepad work?

Thanks! Although I'm running into problems trying to delete the Science progress; the resultant Save File refuses to work on KSP. Any pointers?

You could try making a new "Dummy" save game and then paste the "fresh" science parts from there into your current save file (please save a copy of your current career to avoid losing it forever... wouldn't want to hinder you) ;)
