Survey on artificial intelligence public opinion

Recommended Posts

Er, your demographic questions need tweaking. You missed out the world's largest ethnic group and the fourth biggest religion. Your political affiliation question is also clearly biased towards US political parties, people outside the US wont be able to answer it properly.

As an addendum to my survey response, I'd like to explain one of my answers. I think they will obtain rights and be subject to laws... primarily because process required for them to become truly artificially intelligent creations will undoubtedly result in an imperfect computer (one that makes guesses and mistakes)... I think you'll find them to be much more human than you might expect. It's also a lot closer than you might expect.

I also hope you are aware of the fact that intelligence and self awareness are 2 different things.

A computer program doesn´t have to be self aware in order to show the same intelligence in decision making as a human

(which is why e usually refer to "Artificial Consciousness" if we talk about self aware computer (-programs) in contrast to artificial intelligence)

thank you all for responding yes I know the difference but for my paper I'm more focused on opinions and also the survey was originally intended for americans I'm sorry if you feel left out in either question that's why I left other that way if I didn't think of the religion or political party you could put in your own option and btw I am american and that's why it is a little biased I apologize I didn't think many people would even see it

If you wanted to have a survey limited to the Americans - point it out at the very beginning.

If not - ask questions that are not country-specific.

Or at a very least - give an option "Non US-citizen / Don't know" (BTW: For future reference - every survey you make should include "don't know" option for pretty much everything with exception of basic demographics (like gender/age/county - that's pretty much it) - otherwise you will get skewed, meaningless results).

That's a good point. I assumed he meant self-aware.
