Difference between stock Unity diffuse shaders, and KSP\Diffuse?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, just a random question that I can't seem to find an answer to.

Whenever I import textures I often forget to switch a materials shader from the stock Unity diffuse, to the KSP\PartTools diffuse. I've noticed the KSP diffuse is slightly darker in the VAB, but apart from that they seem to render identically.

Are there any performance benefits using the official KSP shaders, and should I go through every part and re-export it correctly? I'm kind of obsessed with making things with as little processing\rendering overhead as possible :)

Thanks all

no appreciable difference performance wise. KSP shaders have few extras for Opacity and Rim Color/Falloff. Rim Color/Falloff allows for a kind of cartoony look on objects. But seems that look has been abandoned by Squad. If it loads in game, probably fine.
