Retire an available kerbal

Recommended Posts

There wouldn't be much point to a "retire" or "lay off" button. Not only could you simply put unwanted crew members on some long-duration mission to out them out of sight and mind, but you could always edit the persistence file and erase them that way.

May I call you a savage? ;)

I don't kill Kerbals for being unfit to work in a space program, due to being either outstanding cowards or blatantly stupid. I know it doesn't really make a difference, but it gives the right feeling to put intelligent Kerbals into science labs. So I'd really like the suggestion, even more I'd like to dismiss applicants forever for said reasons.

I'd love something like this. I currently use two mods, Real Roster and Final Frontier, for flavor. I like Jeb, Bob, and Bill, but they're not my kerbals. Instead, I started with Rotop and have added Rodon and Gerfield through rescues. There's something nice about being able to remember how each kerbal joined my program. Some attachment is a good thing, especially now that there are consequences for failure, like loss of reputation and funds.

For now, Real Roster has a blacklist which you can add to or you could edit the persistence file, but knowing that the kerbals who have given so much to the space program are now dropping in on KSP to see old colleagues is cool.

Cheers,

-Vic

...or, instead of doing all that, they could add a retire button.

edit: Seems, it's already in. Still, the lengths some of the community will go to to defend Squad not implementing something into the game.
