Does an EVA count as a "science instrument/analysis"?

Recommended Posts

Okay so I've finished the tech-tree on career, so I felt there was no reason for me to collect science, and got rid of all science instruments on my ship, on a return trip to Gilly. The reason why I had to return is that for some reason, one career mission requirement was to conduct scientific analysis of space around Gilly. And now I'm in Eve orbit, about to transfer to Gilly, but realized I didn't bring along ANY science instrument, not even a Gray Goo! So now, my question is, can Jeb do a quick EVA and still get the required scientific analysis, and for career system to detect THAT as "collection of data from space around Gilly"?

Yes from my experience a crew report will be fine for a collect science while in orbit around a body. As long as the mission requirement does not state you have to use one instrument over another, any science is valid. even if the value of science you collect is 0%.

Hey Rodion,

Yes an EVA or even a Crew Report should count as science. Remember though, you would need to transmit the data back to Kerbin or recover the vessel to complete the contract.

Thanks Moonman. Well I do intend to get Jeb back home so, I guess contract will only be completed once Jeb struts back into the Astronaut office, which makes the trip more interesting. :D

Glad i could help! And I don't think Jeb would have it any other way, he likes to build suspense.
