Will we ever see an official outer Kerbol system?

You may not have realised it but there is a spectrum between 100% realism and 100% fantasy. You don't have to go to the absolute extremes. :P

Yes, but KSP is well within the realm of fantasy so a warp drive of some sort wouldn't be out of place.

How is it "within the realm of fantasy"? Its one of the few games with real space physics.

Are you referring to the fact that there is no re-entry damage or proper aerodynamics implemented? If so, its unfair to judge a game as "fantasy" just because it's physics simulation is incomplete.

There are a lot of things that are unrealistic in KSP: planetary size and density, the size of the solar system and the sun, the aerodynamics, the magical reaction wheels and fuel pumps... Anyway, the point is that a fantasy warp drive at the end of the tech tree wouldn't be out of place at all.

^Maybe Squad should make it so you can easily implement new planets through modding! Right now, the only way to do it is of questionable (and likely no) legality (decompiling.)

As for biomes, they do give a reason to revisit planets with few moons (Jool's moons ARE its biomes, essentially.) Although, I'd like to see more tiers in the tech tree for that. Maybe once more biomes are added, we could get theoretical technology that costs a LOT in the tech tree.

Really? I didn't touch SQUAD's code when I made Kerbal Universe 2.

64 bit is currently VERY unstable (though Unity5 might fix this). Also, not all computers are 64-bit, and many users would find their computers unable to play KSP anymore, unless they set aside a group of developers to continue KSP 32 bit separately, or they make outer planets an expansion pack.

Well he's gone about it completely wrong so far... Might as well add in additional solar systems and warp drives.

He wants it to be AUTHENTIC. Realism is when you put a pilot in a first-person spacecraft with gauges and no built-in context. Authenticity is when you have something that models what happens in real-life, but still feels like a game. It has to be fun before realistic, and 3 hour Ion engine burns is not fun.

  • 2 months later...

Solar sails allows humans to interstellar travel and they are well developed by now.

In fact I do hope They add a second star and some planets and the only way to reach it is through sailing away. (at least until warp drive travel is unlocked as final tech part)

I would rather see Squad expanding the current planets, there's not much to sightsee in them. Adding more planets is just "more of the same".

none of that counts as scifi, KSP uses current technology even if it isn't accurately portrayed in the math.
