Moving Ships/Assemblies From One Mode to Another

I've made some ships and assemblies that are fairly complicated (for me, anyway) in career mode. I wanted to start a science mode just for fun, but I don't know how. I've tried moving the .craft files from the different modes (the .craft files in VAB folder in career to the .craft files in the VAB folder in science, etc.). I would really, REALLY rather not have to rebuild the ships and assemblies again. Is there something I'm missing?

You had the right idea; copy the files from the VAB folder of one save file over to the VAB folder of the other save file. If you want to copy things in orbit, etc., you'll want to copy your persistent.sfs folder with a couple modifications (make sure your science, money, reputation, and gamemode are right.)

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. If you want to only copy the ships, then yes, what you said is correct (copy from one SHIPS\VAB directory to the other).

If you are moving them to a game mode where you have to unlock parts, then you'll have to unlock all parts in use by the craft before you can load it in the VAB or SPH.
