Railguns really don't exist in KSP but some people built cannons using exhaust from an engine or engines on the ship to propel a projectile that itself has no engines. The advantage is that the projectile is going its max speed when it leaves the ship, so you can get really close and don't have to worry about missing the target. Unfortunately they're usually heavy and big, plus you have to deal with recoil from the engines. I think Spartwo has one, though.

If they're bigger and heavier than their comparative than you're doing something wrong....

You can copy your entire KSP folder so you have two separate installations for modded and stock. I agree stock may be too easy, have you tried 6.4x Kerbin or RSS?

I see. (starts hatching evil plan)

@sdj64 Yeah, I've tried RSS several times, only to notice a few problems, and since I tried OpenGL (may try again later), evidently I must've been doing something wrong in Steam. But a problem I may need to send to the RSS thread was, after taking the folders with RSS data in them, apparently the planets will bug out (keeping their visual size in vanilla, but their programming appears to stay the same as it would be in RSS. Unfortunately, I can't spare the RAM to. Apologies for rambling off subject, that's just my habits I need to break.

As for the problem I have with RSS, I had to entirely delete my KSP copy and re-install it. This means, I've lost all of my ships. So, I may try to re-construct them, but they were worse (in performance) than some others' ships may (I've been lacking armor or using too much armor).

I mean I my 0.25 version ksp does not run (It always crashes even before I add the persistent file and after I added it, I know where to put it this is not my first battle), the persistent file is worthless for me, you and the others ships' may have 0.25 version parts that is incompatible with my 0.24 version. Do you still have a the 0.24 version? can we setup another battle on 0.24? Pleeeaaaaaasee! I really want to join.

It is odd that 0.25 is not working for you...As for me, I cannot really battle in 0.24, since most of my ships are made entirely out of 0.25 (SP+) parts, and it would be time-consuming to have to redesign my the vast majority of my fleet.

That is rather unfortunate :(

Yet another participant lost, alas...

Could I join your battle? Or were the players supposed to be Three, Ejudedude, Zamovinar, and Tynton? If Zamovinar can't join the match I'd be happy to.

Also it seems like a really large fleet size (5 ships, 300 tons?) for a 4 player match.

If Tynton and Zamovinar cannot participate, I would be alright with you joining; I do not know how everyone else feels, however.

You are correct that the fleet size is rather large, but it simply means that the battle will be considerably more awesome at the expense of taking longer, and, at least in my opinion, a massive battle is distinctly preferable. :D

If for some reason Tynton and Zamovinar can't participate in this battle, I'll gladly jump on in.

I've got quite a lot of good ships, most with combat (either direct or via testing) experience.

Examples (read back in the thread for more):

:)

Also, I've been busy working on my newest addition(s) to the MU fleet lineup, which I should have pics for soon. (IRL work keeps happening on my normally "free" weekends.)

I would gladly welcome another person, as 1v1v1v1 would be far less conducive to someone getting accidentally "double-teamed" than 1v1v1...Still, I do not know about everyone else.

I'd join in if tag teaming is a concern.

With sdj64 and ScriptKitt3n having filled [presumably] vacant spots, we are already at four players; as five people would be getting rather excessive and pose similar problems as having 3, I am afraid you are unneeded. :sticktongue::D

EDIT: Ninja'd

I'll join if I can use my 170 ton Victory.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Too many people! Go fight your own battles :sticktongue:

2v2v2 would be cool. One experienced player and one newbie.

I suppose it would be, if one did not mind the time between turns...But seeing as no-one else has even set-up their ships yet, I predict this would mean waiting for even longer to start.

Taking the initiative to set up...

My fleet consists of 4 ships: one Orrim Battlecruiser, one Hansel Cruiser, one Sonald Destroyer, and one Joedrin Corvette. Total mass of 295.5 tons.

The Sonald got an upgrade, it's now the same mass but has more fuel, a bit fewer parts, and 4 small guided missiles instead of 6 unguided I-beams.

I hope it's okay to start around Ike. Duna orbit was getting a bit crowded so I put two ships there.
