Great, now I feel the urge to make a carrier again.

I'll be back after countless rubbish attempts and failed ships.

There's only one problem. The rules state that you can't cover more than 50% of the surface area with those panels! Although I do suppose it could be used with rule exceptions...

That's why I said 'seemed', if it weren't for that then it would be pretty useful.

I'd like to see what kind of weapons this ship isn't immune to (you can rule out basic I-Beam weapons right away).

I wouldn't be so sure. I'm glad to confirm, my new 0.625 munitions can open all kinds of cans if you know how, and the warhead is the single I-Beam (albeit the long one):

Still, that took an ungodly amount of ammo, most of which didn't really do a thing before I got the effective range worked out... only two out of seven really did what they were supposed to! And it certainly counts as alive, even if only with half the subsystems attached to it (I need a clarification on salvage rules, BTW). What do you put in your armor, zekes? Never built anything anywhere close myself! Get back to you with the persistence as soon as I move everything else, BTW, right now I've got to run.

Rune. But it won't be too long now!

Testing did not end well for you, I'm afraid, AlexanderTeaH...

The I-Beam weaponry onboard my Lykotaek class cruiser shredded your armor and knocked off most of your weapons. The two anti-capital ship SRBs obliterated your propulsion and delivered the death blow.

Ouch. Adding another layer of plates to shield the SRB's.

glad to see you're getting somewhere with that ammo :) also, as for "dead" or alive, I will always refer back to the house rules (#4 I think) if a ship can do any two out of three of these: (sustain power, move, or fire weapons) then it is still alive. As for my armor, I build not only to minimize damage, but also incorporate subsystems capable of suviving catastrophic damage when hit; for example the Drek XIV-XI has alternate missile points in the rear not only to ensure the barrel loss doesn't disable it, but it also means I case of engine loss the missiles can turn around and provide emergency thrust.

But in the rules it also states that the ship must be capable of operating independently of the weapons or other ships.

hmmmm good point I somehow missed that... I will have to quickly add some emergency engines then :P the only ship in my fleet without them is the XIV-XI

(It's going to die, though. No armor = 1 shot kill with a Mark II I-Beam rocket. Just gotta aim good. *squints*)
