I know :/ I would be doing my turn but seem to have got involved in a nice big imgur argument... :P

I'll take it after dinner now. Though with only one ship left which only has 2 missiles I think starwhip has this one in the bag.

Um... yeah. At the moment you're horribly outgunned... My capital ship still has 6 explosive-tip SRBs and 8 Mark II I-Beams.... Plus the two on the Spirion and the 6 on the Kiternyae. The Kiternyae also has 2 plated SRBs to attack you with.

Unless... Technically [And my inner conscience is telling me to SHUT THE HELL UP!] you could salvage the missiles off of your capital ship. *punches self in face*

Save exchanges, you upload the persist after your turn, your opponent then replaces the one in his battle save with the new one, he then attacks one ship and posts his turn here with the persist below it. The cycle repeats until one player surrenders or all their ships are scrap metal.

Who wants a quick 3 ship, max 250 tonne battle? Choose any body you like.

Also, I've gone to absurdities trying to protect my engines...

I know it's been a few pages, but are you still up for it? Also, you might want to check to make sure the thrust from those engines isn't blocked.

I upgraded my battleship again and I have an all-new destroyer as well. Will probably bring 1 battleship and 2 destroyers (~220 tons or so combined mass). I'll set up, give me a minute. (maybe tomorrow, I'm a bit busy)

haha, what? I've updated the Drek's armor, i'm pretty sure it's indestructable once again. Downside is i only can carry 2,300 m/s D/V and 3 missiles. and it weighs 129 tonnes. and is borderline 700 parts

Only 700 parts for 130mT? The destroyers you are facing are exactly that on the pad, about 600 each on orbit, and weight around 75mT with the maximum payload... which doesn't include any 1.25m munitions of course. My modularity trick is expensive in parts.

Rune. "Raise the lag shields!" Kirk Kerman, captain of UKSN Swift, currently engaged around Mun battling a weird fleet of indestructible drones :P

Ok, Thank you for the answer, i still have some questions:

So, speed and mobility doesn't matter, only firepower?

and can i build an unmanned ship?

If you want to go by my doctrine, Yes on all counts XD Armor is my friend. Speed is not.

I mean, look, the new Drek looks like a turtle.

Pretty big edit to avoid posting too much on the same thread:

Every time I've seen that ship destroyed its been a shot in the centre. :/ That's a pretty major design flaw.

Next version I'm going to redo the armour from scratch and also rotate the engine block by 90 degrees which I think will improve the look.

Yeah, were is the root part you say? Because that's where careless attackers aim, to the point the navball tells them to when they select a target. Now that should give people ideas...

Actually, depends on your rules, the ones posted in the first post are mere guidelines/something most agree on being fair-ish, but the agreement is between the players so whatever floats your boat. For example, I goaded Zekes into setting up some movement limitations that might yet bite him in the ass (I specified that while Mun was the battleground, the fleets had to depart from LKO and be able to get back there to claim victory). So you know, this is all very informal and the final rule is what you and your opponent agree on.

Rune. And extreme amounts of fair game, of course, this is all in good fun.

Yeah, I walked right into that one XD

I might yet run out of missiles before you run out of ships... But yeah, I'll be the first to admit I had the clear advantage here, knowing the enemy, choosing the battlefield, and having the initiative. Next one you go first!

Rune. Now if I lose, that would be embarrassing.

Victory should be able to outrun a lot of ships around here, why fight when I could lead my enemies on a tour of the Joolian system?

My ships have always been some of the fastest with their huge engine blocks. Sadly that is a negative in turn based as it just adds a point of vulnerability.

Not to mention the Drek 15-4 was not designed with the same armor rating as a Heavy Drek like an XIV-XI or XXVII-III - it was designed to take small arms fire, and mabye one Anti-ship SRB round before breaking up. If you were fighting my really armored ships you'd be bouncing off still... although they'd probably lack the range to get to the combat zone anyway XD Not without tanks....

Also Starwhip: My ships doesn't have RCS so docking to the missiles wouldn't be feasible. :/

Totally not doing a victory dance right now :D:sticktongue:

 But then again, neither do mine... (EDIT: I'm going to fix that next time...)

EDIT#2:

I've gotten the idea into my head that if one* of my ships dies in battle here, her name cannot be used again.

If you manage do destroy my capital ship, though... AUS-0 Pride of Kalzore was a one-shot thing. :(

I'll be totally overhauling her anyways (I feel as if it needs more... something ), but... if she gets destroyed then I'll have to make a brand new one. Live and learn.

(The other ships are generic. I'll just christen them with different names next time if they get destroyed. :))

*or more

So I took my move and reversed orbit again before approaching the Pride of Kalzore. I fired the first missile from 1.4km and missed. The second from 1.2km and impacted the side at about 400m/s. The result... not a scratch, not even a damaged bit of wing armour. :( the missile just wedged in the side and then floated off once it ran out of fuel.

Clear victory to you!

I did however put my ship in a 30,000,000km orbit, retrograde to make it a ..... to catch... ;)

I think the conclusion of this is I need to rethink both my armouring and weaponry. Neither works which is a slight flaw in a battle!

@Zekes. I haven't actually clicked on then link you provided because I hate facebook but I just want to say this:

Isn't this thread a kerbal fight club?

Yeah, but everyone wanted one on facebook too, they didn't want to make a forum account :) plus this thread is a bit more complex, i'm trying to get people into it; the Facebook group isn't gonna replace this, it's just a way of getting more people into it (they love it!)

Can't touch this, Zekes. :P

(You probably can... :()

Probably.... :D

WHAT?

How did that do nothing? Are you sure? Hmm.

(I think the Pride of Kalzore raised it's lag-shields)

I'll show you the inside of the thing. And then I'll catch your pesky little retrograder.
