How to avoid falling through runway when deploying landing gear?

Recommended Posts

Test: Create a heavy vehicle, set the gear to not deploy when starting, then deploy the gear when you start. Result: A landing gear usually falls through the runway.

I must keep the landing gear undeployed when starting to keep my landing gear stowage system parts mechanically synchronized. Because Infernal robotics does not allow parts to start deployed, my landing gear must start in the stowed position. When deploying for a runway takeoff, one of the three landing gear usually goes through the runway. The only fix is to fight with with "hack gravity" and/or hyperedit for multiple hours/days/weeks.

Why not have them deployed to start, then after take off, right click and manually raise them?

Or set an action group to only raise the gear.

Then everything will be synched up later on.

As s/he said Infernal Robotics doesn't allow starting deployed.

Bit of an ugly solution but you could put a couple of radial decouplers under the craft with cubic struts to hold the plane up then detach after deploying the gear.

I have infernal robotics and start with gear deployed.

As far as I understood I think he meant the actual IR parts rather than the stock gear

AFAIK there is no way to set IR parts to start deployed, the piston and hinges always default to minimum values.

The plane would run into the launch clamps on takeoff. Also, once deployed they STILL will sometimes not sit on the runway.

You wont' run into them if you place them right.

And if they're still falling through the runway anyway, then there's not much you can do.
