A plugin they could just code themselves.

"Just" is too tiny a word considering the amount of time it takes to implement a plugin. I believe Squad only has a limited work force.

Or can it be toolbars? all those contracts and notifications can make the UI rather cluttered...

They already have one.

in the past Harv has said that simply adding parts at this time isn't a good idea because it increases the update time if something changes, say price balancing. It doesn't rule it out but it puts more strength towards a plugin.

If its Spaceplaneplus it'd replace most of the stock spaceplane parts, meaning there would not be any or little additional update time.

Have some pretty hot and huge news about parts for you guys to look at on Monday. Non-Hugo related, but a huge plus nonetheless.

Half Life 3 confirmed!

Seriously though, it's probably Spaceplane+ or a similar mod like Mk2 IVA. We already know they were working on spaceplane stuff, maybe Hugo redesigned the cockpits and they'll use SP+ for the other parts like fuel tanks?

If it was just parts, the devs would just create the parts.

Sure, but they can't just create parts that look exactly, or nearly exactly, like the parts on a mod. That's plagiarism. If they want those parts, they have to buy them from the modder.

I sure hope it's not SP+. The body is ok, but if they add those crappy pieces of paper they call wings cluttering the menu, I'm going to have to go in and delete them every time I get an update, and they'd better not replace the current stock wings.

Eh? what's wrong with the wings? I found the inline docking port to be a bit flimsy but the rest of it seemed fine (if a bit low lift for the size).

They could get rid of the stock wings (SP+ wings look better to my eye) and just change the .cfgs to make them have similar lift.

Fair point, but the same can be true for code if Squad would use specific 'tricks' that are coded by a plugin creator, which they might want to do if it would save them time reinventing those tricks. That would not be the case for the majority of plugins, but it might be for some.

1. They don't fit together well. Even the stock wings fit together better.

2. They don't behave right when snap is turned on. (No wings really do, but these behave even worse than the stock or B9 wings)

3. They fall apart a lot easier in flight.

4. Their lack of thickness means you can't hide struts very easily making planes that use them ugly.

5. The dimensions are off. I have yet to build a good small plane with them and only 2 wings. At a minimum I need at least 4 pieces for a simple basic jet engine plane.

EDIT: Also there is no Swept Wings analogue in SP+, though I would imagine they wouldn't remove that one so it's not as big an issue.

After reading all this, my wild speculation is that since SQUAD doesnt want a lot of parts since they slow down testing they will probably add a mod that adds limited but high impact parts. Could be plane parts, one of the ones mentioned but slimmed down maybe. Personally I dont do planes but Id be tempted if they did add more stock parts. Personally Id be happy with being able to do struts or action groups in space.

Eh? I found them to be rather thick and fit together beautifully.. (unless you're comparing to B9, which I have yet to use. I was going to roll up a fixed version for my enjoyment, but I've heard rumors that development has restarted on B9, so I figured I'd wait for the official one). The black rounded edges make the gaps disappear and reduce z-fighting and such (mostly). I've made spme two-wing planes with the larger boards...

2. They don't behave right when snap is turned on. (No wings really do, but these behave even worse than the stock or B9 wings)

I've noticed #2. I think that's because they center with each other rather well, and stock has wonky attachment rules for things that are centered (sorta flips around to be inverted on the other side). You can overcome the flippiness with careful positioning though, so it's not too big of a drawback... just a nuisance.

As for #3, not sure about that one. I've had suspicions that they weren't quite as sturdy as some other wings, but that could be my imagination / could be remedied with a visit to the .cfg file if it's true (I think...)

My only semi-confirmed complaints are as follows:

1. Lift for the wings SEEMS low (could just be an impression though).

1a. Lift for the control surfaces also seems a bit low too but they are kinda on the narrow side mostly.

2. The inline clampotron for mk2 seems floppy (but then again I believe the mk1 stock one is also floppy so...meh!)

3. The structural intakes have a rather small area (it's like 1/8th of a ramjet or something)

Well rkman I wouldn't confirmed as such. We know that it is going to be repeated to parts and that in the past Harv has said that simply adding parts at this time isn't a good idea because it increases the update time if something changes, say price balancing. It doesn't rule it out but it puts more strength towards a plugin.
That didn't stop Squad putting the O-10 and Vernor in though. And if not adding new parts is worse - which is arguably the case when it comes to planes - then Squad will include them.

I don't have any problems with fragility or lack of lift, and I find the variety of structural and strake pieces immensely useful. And, like everything SP+, they look a lot better than stock. Aesthetics come down to individual taste of course, but:

And not even a fishing tackle option in it for you.

It'd be gardening or mechanic tools in my case.

Anyway, these options aren't very good. Where's the "You're all going to be disappointed" option?
