Hi guys.

I've been acting long enough to begin orbital construction of my first interstellar ship. I use MechJeb for docking as I find it impossible otherwise. Unfortunately once docked together my engine pieces all point in odd directions rather than in line with the core engine and command body.

Is there a function in Stock KSP or MechJeb that will help my ship not be wonky? Or are there any construction tricks that enable docking on a single, clean axis?

Might you happen to have a screenshot of the craft you're having an issue with handy? We might be better able to get an idea of what's going on if we can see it for ourselves.

You might try putting your docking ports on symmetric bi- or tri-couplers to improve your chances of lining everything up, but you still have to be able to line it up enough that both/all 3 ports will link up simultaneously.

In the MechJeb docking autopilot I believe there is a 'Force Roll' option. Enabling this will align the docking-ports to the angle (in degrees) you specify.
