CaptainSlug
Radially attachable and extremely sturdy. Bolt it to whatever components you want, and they should be long enough to protect most liquid engines.v1.2 Minor updates to node_collision, mesh, and textureshttp://www.captainslug.com/temp/LanderLeg1.2.zipWill obviously be flimsier if attached to Radial Decouplers as shown. So if you don't foresee needing to eject them, just attach them directly.Limitations+ Keep in mind that it is only as strong as the part it is attached to. It won't save you from situations that would destroy or detach the rest of the parts from each other. So descents faster than 8 m/s will probably cause something to break off. + Seems to have a weight limit when attached to liquid fuel tanks. Can be supplemented slightly by attaching them to Radial Decouplers or struts if you discover that the Lander Legs pop off as soon as your craft is sent to the launch pad.+ Hilariously, placing these underneath an engine exhaust will sometimes shoot them off. But usually just results in an explosion. As requested, a much smaller Lander Peg.http://www.captainslug.com/temp/LanderPeg1.0.zip
Legoasaurus
Very nice! looks good and functional. I, for one, am impressed.
TempestGod
HOLY CRAP! I have been hoping for landing struts for a while. It will make my landings more realistic. I cant wait to try them.
Flaser
Wonderful release, but I can't help but be greedy Could you make a leg that's long enough for the NERVA? That engine seems to be tailor made as a 1st stage orbital and lander engine.
CaptainSlug
I will be making another version of this part that doubles as a winglet.Wonderful release, but I can't help but be greedy Could you make a leg that's long enough for the NERVA? That engine seems to be tailor made as a 1st stage orbital and lander engine. The attachment node is at the top of the parts so you can easily adjust how far below your liquid engine they stick out. So they do work with the NERVA engine, if a bit dangly looking.New issue+ I may have set the weight kind of low. These get ejected really far away when Radial Decouplers are released. (Probably the heaviest single nozzle engine in KSP now). It *is* possible to land one, using thrust though.
CaptainSlug
They will have the same strength now matter where you attach them because the collision model doesn't reach close enough to aid the attachment node in any way.I've been practicing with these and in most situations something will break off if you land harder than 10/msVersion 1.2 added. Includes only visual modifications.

mr_dogbert
This is awesome! Would it be asking to much for deployable?
CaptainSlug
This is awesome! Would it be asking to much for deployable?I don't see any means of achieving that in the current build of the game.It would probably require a new class of part. chrislo27
This is wonderful! I can now actually land on the tower! (Been trying for a LONG time, and I mean long)

Luckz
I spent three hours trying to make it land successfully while recording:http://www.youtube.com/gluecks#p/u/3/YAUXusZ9js0(Yes, I'm using something rather big attached to them legs. Yes, I am using an ungodly amount of parachutes. Check the emergency tower video on the right for my other attempts to slow it down enough.) FoC400
Wow, that's a lot of parachutes.
Luckz
With normal amounts of parachutes I'd go down at 16m/s and either asplode on contact with the ground or at least fall apart.

sirscott
That why you attach an engine.Indeed. Ive managed successful landings from orbit with a good combination of chutes and landing motorSee attached ship. My Proton lander has 8 chutes and lands at about 7-8 M/s. All the landing gear is attached to one of Sunday punches long radials , allowing for easy jettison when the craft returns to orbit.

CaptainSlug
As requested, a much smaller Lander Peg.http://www.captainslug.com/temp/LanderPeg1.0.zipShort and narrow enough to fit inside 1-to-2 and 1-to-3 meter decoupler shrouds. But long enough to protect smaller liquid engines.
DrLucky
Ohhh, nice.I've used the pegs (3 of em) to make a little lander that fits within a 2m shroud:Parachute + Command + light decoupler + light fuel tank + SLS liquid engine + light decoupler + light fuel tank + SLS liquid engine (with 3 pegs on this last bit)So it's sorta LEM-meets-command/service-module thingy. Now I'm practicing landing and taking off again with it.It's a little tricky, but fun. Great parts.

DrLucky
where are the little orange tank and the engine from? Those are from Sunday Punch's Wobbly Rockets pack. If you haven't tried it, do so. It's a pretty well-balanced bunch of parts, and he updates it pretty much every release.
