Allow tweakables access through staging icons

Recommended Posts

This is not a big game-changing suggestion, but a somewhat minor interface refinement:

Players should be able to access the right-click menu for a given part through right-clicking its icon in the staging list. The right-click menu would appear next to the icon (which would stay highlighted) rather than next to the part itself.

I think this would provide the following advantages:

- Easier access to the right click menu for parts that are obscured by others on the spacecraft, or small parts that can be difficult to hit.

- No camera change required to access the right-click menu, so if you have a preferred camera angle it can remain even when tweaking a part that's not visible.

- Quicker to change settings on multiple parts, as the view does not need to be rotated.

- For parts being monitored, like a jet's thrust or a rocket's Isp as it ascends through the atmosphere, the menu would not obstruct the view of the ship.

This is a fantastic idea!

I just had to find 24 LV-1R probe engines on a mothership and manually click "deactivate". They were mostly inside toroidal tanks and only the nozzles were showing...and I was on the night side of Ike. Never again.

I think it would also be beneficial to have different colored or styled icons for the engine type. Perhaps a silhouette of the engine.

Also really useful if your spaceship is rotating out of control and are trying to right-click something...

I've always thought there should be a GUI to allow you to control/monitor every component on your ship without having to click on it (since if its rotating really fast, its impossible), and this idea integrates it into the current interface. However, this would mean that science equipment and fuel tanks etc... need to be included in the staging list.
