Lockable camera?

Is there any way to lock the camera so that it doesn't change into orbital mode when you hit orbit velocity?

I'm trying to do high-speed ice racing runs on Minmus, and having the camera switch to a top-down view just as I need to pay attention to my piloting is resulting in an overabundance of unplanned disassembly...

You can use KerbCam. Just make a node and keep the camera on that view.

Does it still change on you if you put it in Chase mode? I thought I got all the way from launch to Minmus in Chase mode once, but I guess I could have dreamed that...

I've been experimenting today, and it seems that Chase is immune to the switch. Unfortunately, I normally prefer to fly with Free cam...

That's what you expect it to do, but: nope. I always have to switch back out of orbital view during ascents. Orbital is scenic, but I find it immensely disorienting when I'm trying to fly.
