OK so I've been working on the next probe for release. This time I'm doing a NASA/ESA joint probe, Ulysses. It is pretty much done at this point, including the animations. I will maybe do one or two other probes before releasing this to make the update more substantial.

I know I originally said I didn't want to do rocket parts but I've been playing around with the injection stages of some of these probes as they are an integral part of the function of the probes. These stages are the IUS and PAM.

Here is my work so far on the IUS booster. It is two separate solid stages. The second stage has a extendable engine bell which I plan to make extend automatically when the engine is activated.

IUS is done. I will release a prerelease of it soon as I will be looking for feedback/help coming up with proper DV values for each stage. The values it has now are placeholders.

Up next is the IUS/shuttle cradle.

Great looking new part.

I don't know if others have this issue, but I have trouble using solids on my upper stages.

I can't get precise orbits or planetary intercepts with them.

I know it isn't realistic, but would people prefer a throttleable version?

Hopefully we will have the CSS back up and running soon at 100% so we can utilize the full capabilities of this? Also you could do some more shuttle launched probes and satellites. Only if you are up to it of course.

Love the stage. :) The foil should perhaps be more copper-colored than gold on that one, but that's my sole suggestion so far. Can't wait for the cradle, BTW. I'll make an interim update to CSS in preparation for that.

I hope it fits. :)

I updated the IUS gold/copper color to be darker. Here is the prerelease version to test the IUS. I made the engines have the ability to shutdown so you can hotkey them in action groups and toggle them on and off to get a precise orbit/intercept. I gave them a large amount of DV, enough to escape the system and get to Eve. This allows you to use a light or heavy payload and still get precise orbits.

This prerelease also contains the Vanguard, Dawn and Deep Space 1 probes. The final release will contain several more probes.
