Showroom/test field

Recommended Posts

so i use the airfield alot to test what i can as far as if my designs are docking properly or executing incorrectly, but sometimes i need to test the interactions between designs that dont have wheels, it be nice if there was like a showroom or test field mode where i could drop down multiple ships to interact with each other or do like a simulation of 0 g

Put your design on runway. Ignore that it falls apart. Press Alt+F12 and click the button Hack Gravity. Then revert to launch.

Also consider using Hyperedit. It's very useful tool for testing.

I wish there was such functionality integrated into the game - beside launch, you have a "test" button which will allow you to put your design anywhere you please (any planet, landed or orbit) and turn off autosaves or quicksaves for the duration of the test. When you're done you'd just revert to VAB/SPH without the test having any effect on your campaign.

Something like this has been raised quite a few times before. My preferred solution would be some sort of simulator with a slider that lets you vary things like atmosphere density, gravity, etc. This way, you'd have some ability to test things without spoiling the experience of landing something on the planet for the first time.

Currently, I use hyperedit's planet editor setting to do something similar.

Being able to test multiple ships in something like this might be nice, but currently, hack gravity is the way to go.
