Right angle joint

Recommended Posts

have you ever imported a sub assembly only to find that the mount point is on the wrong side and you have to rebuild the whole thing because sub assemblies dont have none symmetrical joints when you create them, ie a docking port that isnt the main mount on a design.

right angle joints would go a long way to correct this nuisance allowing you to reorient your assembly when the game refuses to work with you

There's already a part for it: The Not-Rockomax Micronode

Of course it has some mass (0.15 t) so if you want to have it massless you're stuck with cubic octagonal struts.

Regarding subassemblies, it is always good idea to build it attached to some placeholder. That way you can be sure it will be possible to attach the same way to the real ship.

Huh, I wonder why I've never noticed that before. I guess it's because of the weight. 150kg seems excessive for any ships of medium size and below. I'm no fan of massless parts, but perhaps this should be available in a smaller, weaker, lighter version as well.

Use this mod instead. This wonderful gem lets you select almost any (non-mirrored) part as your root part. It will save you many many many many headaches with having to rebuild some or subassembly from whatever part you want to attach it from first. Also, I like bacon.
