Mojang in talks with Microsoft for 2 billion dollar sale

No strong feelings here either. Though I have not played the game in a long time, and was never involved in the community (and from what i hear, that was probably a good thing)

Unlike, say, Yahoo, I generally don't think Microsoft mess up what they acquire (though someone please correct me if that is not true). They may be able to take it in new directions with the resources they have.

Perhaps they can integrate it in the next version of Windows. That way users can build their own desktop UI that does not suck.

EDIT: and one last thing...

Can't help myself having a chuckle seeing Microsoft pay.. possibly $2 billion on a game written in Java.

The game's peaked anyway. There's no way there's enough life left in it to recoup that much money.

I agree. Ive played since beta. The game had its peak there, No annoying people. Had a good community(i know hard to believe) the game was just a fun mining and building game!

To be honest after 1.8 I don't really see what they could add without changing the gameplay quite a bit

1.3 Really Nice Update 1.4 Pretty Good Update 1.5 GREAT! 1.6 Not so much 1.7 Nope. 1.8 Why does this update exist? Then 1.9...They would either add hardly anything or kill the game.

I just hope there won't be "hey, people, if you pay 9.99$, you'll get an expansion pack with 10 more different ores and 5 animals!"-policy. Cause that would wreck the already injured community. It would become annoying like WoW, and endless parade, a hole without bottom.

So far, 1.8 has been working fine for me.

Well, as Elysium said, the PC version isn't growing that much. But consoles are. Theoretically, they could leave PC alone, and develop it for the Xbox one/Xbox 360. (It would even be within their rights to discontinue services to Playstation versions.) that way the modding community/PC version in general stays the same (Giving some credit(?) to Microsoft.) while they get to push the xbox one further forward.

If what happened to skype after the purchase is any indication, I'd say it will ultimately be bad for the game. Very bad.

Ah, and they just might try rewriting it in c#. That'd be awful, but hilarious.

Bad? I don't see anything wrong with Skype, before or after their purchase.

How about automatic skype updates even if you turn them off? Or letting the linux client die and exclude the old one from working any longer? Annoying add's in the newer clients? Skype under M$ will share the same fate like their Messenger.
