minimus ring

my teacher gave me challenge, i have to create a ring around the minimus with parts, i was wondering if that's actually possible?

i can dock a few parts but docking that many will make it "elastic" and it's gonna act like a snake if you know what i mean

Not possible with a single craft, sorry, the game does not calculate physics beyond 2.5km from you.

But, you can make a ring of individual satellites, they don't even need to be close together to look like a ring on the map screen

I've never actually tried to make a spacecraft longer than 2.5 kilometers. What happens? Now I'm curious.

Although my game's got the load distance modded to 5km so itll be even harder than normal

You could make a debris bombs, too (ships with scads of decouplers that fling dozens of parts out into space). Set off several of these in Minmus orbit, then timewarp a lot until their slightly different velocities spread the pieces out more or less evenly around Minmus . Do this in a save all by itself, though

Last time someone tried to do it they did it with structural beams, vertically on the pad I think.

Bits far away just were not attached, but were, it was strange, plus really laggy (lots of parts).

I've made a lot of such stuff. I even made a space elevator (it crashed). When your craft becomes veeeeery long:

1) camera goes crazy and hard to operate

2) you aren't abel to save, change craft, exit to menu.

So it's theoretically possible, but it won't stay, because you'll have to Ctrl+Alt+Del your game.
