B9 Mod (as well as others possibly) Doesn't work

Recommended Posts

THE PROBLEM WAS MY ANTIVIRUS. OMG. Thanks for the help, regardless!

Hello all! I've recently made a fresh install of KSP in hopes of finally getting B9 to work again. Unfortunately, It doesn't. None of the Cargo bays animate, and when I click to see if an item has any available actions in the action group, they don't. Not even the landing gear works. Does anyone know how I can remedy this situation? It's really keeping me from playing this game again :/

KSP: 0.24.2 Windows 32bit

Problem: B9 Mod has No functionality in-game

Mods installed:

B9 Aerospace v 5.2.2

Reproduction steps:

Re-installed game. Immediately after, installed B9 v 5.2.2. Start game.

Build a simple craft with any cargo bay (or part with an animation for that matter) and cockpit from above mod. Move to action groups, and click on parts. no accessories (open or close, lights on or off for cockpits) are available to use. Continue to runway, confirming problem.

"I got it working fine, but only in 32 bit. Just figured out all I needed to do to deal with the lower ram cap but its smooth as a baby's butter...?

I installed B9, including all its included mods (firespitter, etc.) and only used B9's included mods as the originals when another mod wanted the same addition, such as how may moving parts mods uses firespitter, too.

I have other mods installed, from all the nearfuture mods to smokescreen to novapunch2, but the most important is the ActiveTextrueManagement mod that lowers ram usage secondarily. Pretty sure this is the one - http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/...eduction-packs!

Now the catch, your load goes from 25sec to a couple minutes, but at least the game isn't crashing anymore. When you first load the KSP load screen for the game, it stops for about 30-45sec and gives a not responding signal. Just let it go through, it will respond and finish.

There ya go! Let me know, man."

I had this posted in another thread.

Also, use the firespitter mod folder that comes with B9. Don't use others, and if others come with one, don't install theirs. Its all the same. Firespitter is needed to make movable things mobile/actuatable.

The texture modifier above is good because you will run in 32 so the game wont crash because of memory. I found it necessary for B9, I think you might, too.

This will allow you to set action groups, right click in building/open, right click in flight/open,e tc. It also works for spaceplane plus, etc.

Hmm link not working. sec...

There?

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59005-0-24-Release-3-4-Active-Texture-Management-Save-RAM-without-reduction-packs!

If it does not work, search Active Texture Management...It is the first item and is located in Kerbal Forums.

Of course, you are cool to not install this unless your game is crashing. If it isn't, might not be worth the 2min load. But at the same time, I'm pretty sure this has cleared up a ton of framerate issues for me too.

None of the right-click context menus work either. I can't seem to do anything with the parts. This is all coming from a fresh install of the game as well, so I'm really not sure what is going on.

>fresh install of game

>fresh install of B9

>fresh install of FAR

>Run game, nothing works.

also upon inspection, none of the displays work either. what the heck did I do wrong? I followed the instructions step-by-step too...

@barlow.a:

Since Berlioz is not reporting crashes or hangs, Active Texture Management is not the solution and distracts from the more probable answer that there's an installation problem.

@Berlioz:

I'd suggest deleting everything in KSP/GameData/ except the NASAmission and Squad folders (or just using another fresh install). Then carefully follow the installation instructions included with B9.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you'll need to provide the information requested in the How to Get Support (READ FIRST) sticky. While I strongly suspect an installation problem, there's not enough information in your post to know what went wrong.

I deleted my KSP folder and reinstalled the game. I'll go through with that and see what I can do. this all started happening when v .24 came out. I first noticed it with the quantum struts then b9 v 4.

Thank you for the help, guys (or gals). While I check out the How to get support thread, if anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

I've since removed the old stuff, re-installed the game and installed b9 5.2.2 & Far.

These are the only two mods I have installed and It still isn't working... I really am confused and wonder if anyone else has had this problem before... This is so weird haha!

edit: I've looked at the log file and it's told me I need modularfuels, realfuels, taclifesupport and deadlyreentry... I thought that I didn't need any other mods for this to work?

You need the firespitter.dll for B9's animations to work. Try downloading Firespitter and deleting everything except the .dll and see if that helps. Also, it seems that you don't have RPM installed because the screens aren't working. However, the RPM that B9 uses IIRC is a custom version and should be included in the download, so try downloading and installing B9 and make sure to not delete anything that it doesn't tell you to (except for the extracted .zip).

The plugin Firespitter.dll is in the firespitter folder inside gamedata...

Thanks. :)

Log says you have permission issues. Firespitter is installed in the correct place, but the game doesn't have permission to load it. You'll need to give your Windows user account full permissions (read, write, and execute) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\ and all of its subdirectories. Alternatively, you could copy and paste KSP somewhere like C:\Games\ where you already have full permissions, though that will prevent you from using Steam functions like auto-updating and playtime logging.

If you're not sure about how to change permissions, you can read more about that under Windows-specific issues in this thread.

I don't have time right now to go through the rest of your log to see if there are other issues, but hopefully that fixes the problem.

Thank you! I saw that and changed the permissiosn for the specific files, and I tried it actually now that I remembered. I'll have to take a look at the thread.

Edit: Changing folder permissions doesn't work for me at all. I keep getting "access denied, even when KSP folder is copied an run from a created folder else where on the hard disk. I have no Idea on how to fix this
