Planetary Symbols for the Kerbol System?

I would make the Kerbin one an exploding something

Well, Kerbin is a rocket. My thought process behind each of the symbols was:

Moho - It's the fastest orbiting body, so it got the motion lines

Eve - a diamond as I assume it shines like Venus does.

Kerbin - as stated, rockets.

Mun - always eclipses Kerbol, so the double circle.

Minmus - it's a wrapped mint.

Duna - with Ike.

Dres - the canyon for the double lines.

Jool - 5 moons as dots

Eeloo - cracked ice (also somewhat of an EVH reference)

Nice! I like this set the best.

Thanks!

I did this a long time ago, and once used the symbols in craft names to keep them short.

Ѳ = Sun

á´ª = Moho

ÑŽ = Eve

ü = Gilly

ʘ = Kerbin

áµ¾ = Mun

Ô“ = Minmus

ÒŸ = Duna

ᶓ = Ike

á´• = Magic Boulder

ê = Dres

ä = Jool

δ = Laythe

Ѫ = Vall

Ѧ = Tylo

Ò¨ = Bop

ᶑ = Pol

â‚  = Eeloo

These are really good! I like how they even look inspired by our symbols.

IMO those Signs are at all not cryptic enough.

If we really want to come up with something authentic, we have to put ourselfes into the Position of a stargazing kerbal. Not knowing what is out there.

They dont use our Alphabet nor are they aware of what those Planets and Moons actually look like (except for mixing them up with dust particles on their telescopes).

Those symbols have to be dated back into Kedieval Times when those magically moving lights Overhead are supposed to be gods that could bring life and death.

Moho:

Moho figures in Kerbal mythology as a fiery place with oceans of flowing lava. In reality, however, it's much less interesting.

Scientists speculate about possible ways to make it awesome like in the stories. Some of those ideas have led to new breakthroughs in aerospace technology.

Duna:

Also known as the red dot that you can see if you squint at it really hard, Duna has long been a wonder to Kerbalkind.

The planet has been held in much awe due to its striking red color and stark contrast to the color green.

Jool:

Jool is particularly known for being a rather large, predominantly green planet. Kerbalkind has longed to visit it since it was first spotted in the sky.

Philosophers reason that the swirling green planet must be a really nice place to visit, on account of its wholesome coloration.

Start dreaming in a different Mind :)

Well, I had a quick go at them. Mainly going off the flavour text in the game.

15312050446_ed3765d880_c.jpg

Moho: A flaming volcano.

Eve: A well. As in gravity well, geddit.

Kerbin: A circled K.

Duna: An unequal dumbbell, representing Duna and Ike.

Dres: No symbol. Dres is always overlooked.

Jool: A monogram of JV, for Jool and its V (5) moons.

Eeloo: An ice-cube in a glass.

Mun: A depiction of the Mun's nearside.

Minmus: A screen with a dead pixel.

The other moons don't get symbols because they wouldn't have been known in Kerbal antiquity. Though if the game is to be believed no celestials were known in Kerbal antiquity.

I'm not sure that's completely the case to be honest.

Duna passes within 7 million km of Kerbin. Ike is 260 km across. If Kerbal eyes are equally sensitive to human eyes, it would be about as visible to them as Mars is when it's not at closests approach for us. Not to mention it would be noticeably separated from Duna even to the naked eye. Tylo would also be visible to the naked eye and very clearly distinct from Jool.

Indeed, if your symbols represent antiquity on Kerbin, then you'd pretty much have to assume Ike and all 5 Jool moons were known.
