Hovercraft (as in the type of boat)

the idea basically is for performing water landing on other planets and then traveling by water to shore (most likely to have a giant propeller at the back which may or may not be supplied from firespitter or some other mod along those lines)

this would probably take making a new plugin to offer the lack of friction that hovercraft utilize for travel even though there is already an inflatables plugin that would probably work just fine...

it would have different sizes and would be longer length-wise than width-wise for proper rover configuration

may even come with wheels but those could be just substituted for stock or otherwise

i'd offer more details into my idea i am sleep-deprived right now for reasons that escape and i don't drink coffee... (proabably from having to watch all my new shows yesterday)

Once lo-fi get the repulsors working over water you should be able to make something that looks and act like a hovercraft - and you'll have some great wheels to boot!

Check out Roverdude's USI Survival Pack. There are radial, and inline 'floats' in them...they are mostly meant for splashdown, but I've been messing around with them to make a hovercraft. I haven't yet succeeded, because of COM issues causing the craft to flip underwater, but I believe it should be possible to get one working.

From a code perspective, the repulsor wheels and a hovercraft work the same way.

A hovercraft skirt has a couple problems:

-how do you allow the player to place it without either forcing certain sizes and shapes or making it procedural

-how do you actually get it to look somewhat realistic

If someone wants to have a go at it, they are free to, but I doubt anyone will because it doesn't really add anything new and would be really complex to implement.
