Munbase Alpha [Personal Challenge]

Hi all, just wanted to show a few pics of my own little challenge that I made for myself. After several attempts to land on Mun and failing, I finally made a landing but I really wanted to make some kind of base. So I designed many different ships until I came up with one that will look long and have a lot of fuel on landing. So on the first test of my new shuttle, I landed safely on Mun so I slowly lay it down and It looked almost like a base. I then launched a second, and with great difficulty I managed to land it within around 10 feet from the first (Which I was pretty proud of :P) and then slowly lay it down beside it. But only to find the first shuttle had lost its engine :(. lol but at-least the second was fine, but may not have enough fuel to make it back.

Could you guys please post any suggestions on how to make it look better or any ship structures you would recommend?

But I think this base type structure is looking cool and thought I would share. I will also post more pics if it gets bigger and when I start the rescue mission to transport all the Kerbin\'s back to Kerbin :D.

EDIT: I have now managed to create a second base called, Munbase Bravo where I modified my rocket (A lot) in order to use less fuel and land on more spaced out legs, All went well, until one leg broke so I had to put them up again to stop it falling over in case I need to return.

Yes, it can be a challenge when you start adding weight.

Here is a pic of the complete stack I have been using. It is still a work in progress.

I use lots of stabilizer fins, which work very well while you are still in the atmosphere. By the time you are above the atmosphere most of the mass is gone and the spacecraft becomes easier to control.
