Does clicking those ad. help in KSP development?

Please don't take that personal, but people who use adblock don't know how much damage they do to websites they visit.

Traffic is expensive.

I concur to 75% - because I do not want:

- pop-ups or pop-unders (!)

- ads launching videos slowing down my browser and internet speed (on principle)

- ads making noise (= every sound the user has not asked for)

- flashy-blinking somethings left and right

- ads overlaying above the page I am reading and making me search their close button (pop-up 2.0 ...)

and: traffic for such ads costs MY money, at least this is true for mobile phones with limited monthly traffic.

NoScript (a necessary security feature in my eyes) takes care of most of these, so I see no need for a dedicated adblocker yet, but as long as ads become more obtrusive, people will take measures to defend themselves.

I guess the question is whether the ads pay out by impressions or click-through. If it is impressions, just visiting the forum with no ad-blocker is helping. If it is click-through, then clicking the ads helps. I don't ad block here, but I generally don't click ads. The exception to this is I click the questionable looking ads so I can report where they lead.

I thought the revenue is generated based on number of clicks, not number of views? Because I never clicked an ad in my life, except by mistake...

If the only way that a website can exist is through the use of sleazy advertising, than maybe it would be better if that website just died. Adblock plus is the best thing to ever happen to the internet.

Meh, the advertising here is not really sleazy. Certainly better to have a few ads than require paid registration or begging for donations. Does it bother you to read a newspaper with ads in it?

I didn't say the advertising here was sleazy, read what I said. I don't read the local newspaper, i wouldn't know what kind of advertising's in it. When I do need a publication to look for merchandise or services, I pick up a copy of the merchandiser, which is largely supported by car dealers' ads, and yeah, I wish I had adblocker for that too. I wouldn't mind dropping a quarter in a machine to get my merchandiser if it meant getting rid of all those full page car sales ads.

Nor did I say you said it.

Heh, here you have to do both. The most popular merchandiser costs money and has ads. (If I'm understanding the term merchandiser correctly, it may be a language or regional difference.)

Ad networks are a security risk, always were. So no, even if I'm ready and willing to support someone/something monetarily, I will still use ABP and NS.

My main gripe it that there have been a considerable number of incidents where malware has been served on respectable websites through ads. I am all for paying the people who do the work - you could even say I am one of them - but it should not put me at risk. The fact that much banner space is sold automatically nowadays does nothing to ease my worries.
