Mod parts in sandebox but not in career

Recommended Posts

So, in sandbox I have a bunch of various modded parts which do not appear in the career mode saves.

These are career saves with completed tech trees, and I have definitely unlocked all available parts in the tree.

It is always whole mods; if I get some parts from a mod in my career mode, I get all of them from that mod.

An example is the mod that gives the 2 robotic arms. Always there in sandbox, never there in career.

What am I missing?

Either:

- The modded parts have no tech tree config

OR

- You haven't unlocked the parts within the tech tree; even if you have unlocked a particular node, any parts added after doing so will need to be manually unlocked (click on them in their respective node).

Which mod is it?

Another possibility is the part .cfg has a non-existent tech tree node specified. This can occur with old mods since newer releases have removed nodes, or just if a typo is made. It may also be possible for tech tree changing mods to muck things up.

I had a quick look at this last night. Two obvious mods which only appear in sandbox are Mobius Rocketworks and Romfarer's robotic arms.

I'm pretty sure the Mobius mod (which actually has some really useful adaptors and structural parts) has not been supported for a while, so issues with the tech tree config seem plausible.

Not sure about the arms mod. I have a feeling I did have this in career mode at one stage. I'll try reinstalling it.

as Epthelyn stated - you need to click on the nodes which has the modded parts and then click on each mod part within that node to 'purchase' it (it doesn't cost anything in kredits or science). Either that or install a mod called ResearchThemAll which will automatically do that whenever you add a new mod.

For those parts without a tech tree entry open up their part.cfg file and enter:

TechRequired = start

entryCost = 0

and that'll put them in at the start node.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am having the same issue I noticed it with a part from novapunch 2.06 the part is in sand box but not in career part manager sees the part but the VAB doesn't see the part. I suspect that a tech tree has corrupted career or another mod is interfering in some odd way. I know it started after I added a mod becasue I was using a novapunch engine and strut that disappeared from my career game. I have tried loading new games and various trees. I suspect the only way to find the culprit will be to start all over and load each mod till I find the mod that interferes with the parts makes me wonder how many parts are actually missing..
