Deleting parts

A simple question.

I have slowly begun installing bigger and bigger part packs to my KSP and now my catalog is cluttered. Can I simply remove the parts I don't really need (heat shields for example, since I don't use Deadly Re-entry) or would it affect the game in some way; i.e. there would be an empty space in the catalog or the game just wouldn't start or would show some error reports.

Delete away.

Any pre-built vessels using the deleted parts will become inaccessible, though.

I'll give one more warning. Loading a craft with a part that is not installed causes a bug where you cannot leave the VAB. Sadly the orange message for the craft is the same regardless of whether the part is not installed or just not researched in career.

Interesting. Have to probably start a new save when 0.25 comes out, though due SP+ becoming stock and I'm sure not every part is included.

You just need to bring your SP+ planes home. None of the stock parts will likely be compatible with the SP+ because their names and identifiers will be changed. My plan is to temporarily install SP+ in 0.25, convert my craft to Stock by swapping out parts and then uninstall it.

I'll probably just rebuild everything from scratch. The sizes and weights of the stockified parts are likely to vary enough from SP+ to mess up the RCS balancing and aerodynamic tuning a bit, anyway.

Yeah I had considered that as well, just take a bunch of screenshots and recreate them at best I can.

Same for my catalog, which doesn't have a thread yet, I'm gonna have to do that after 0.25.

I wish there was a mod that allowed you to remove parts from the catalog in game. sometimes the names of the parts make it difficult to identify them in the files and vice versa.
