KSP not starting

Hi,

Since yesterday, I can't start KSP anymore. I tried removing all mods and reinstalling, but it still isn't working.

Every time I click launch on Steam, I only get a blackscreen with a cursor.

To end this I have to use the taskmanager.

I have the latest version (0.24.2).

I now uninstalled it a second time and the following files persisted:

Have you tried starting KSP by running KSP.exe? That would narrow down if it's a steam problem or a KSP problem.

The logs aren't very helpful in this case. If everything was working fine, what has changed recently with your install and/or computer? There are lots of things that can interfere with KSP/Unity like virus scanners and virtual network devices. Anything recently installed or modified?

Maybe an automatic update for my AntiVirus. I am using Emsisoft with Online Armor as Firewall. I added it to the list of exceptions but it still didn't work.

The thing that's driving me crazy is that it stopped working from one day to another.

Well, I can't give you an exact answer as to what is happening through the logs. If you had mods installed, sometimes they leave bits around even if you removed them. So that could possibly be an issue.

If you're stuck, my recommendation would be to copy over your save files and .craft files somewhere safe. Then you can wipe out (or move) your KSP install and verify game cache through steam. That should force it to download a fresh copy. Run that and see if it works. Then you can start adding back the mods one (or a few) at a time. I would recommend also downloading the latest version of any mods that you are installing. Then move over your saves.

See if any of that helps.

As I said, I uninstalled it through Steam, deleted the files that remained and then reinstalled it. I will try out to verify the game cache. Are there any files of KSP apart from it's folder under SteamApps\common\Kerbal Space Program that could be the cause?

Ok, I got it working now. Somehow it was my firewall that blocked something, even though I added KSP to the exceptions. While turning it off, KSP runs fine. I guess thats a temporary workaround.

A firewall is not an antivirus at all. They are two different utilities entirely (though some come bundled together) with two different purposes. An anti-virus doesn't stop people from attacking your computer in non-viral ways.

HEY GUYS!!!

My Kerbal SP doesn't launch after I downloaded a mod LaunchCountDown

I deleted that mod, deleted all mods, I deleted and reinstalled the game 5 times, but the error is the same: Acces Denied in PartDatabase

It has to be a Steam game:

If you still have this problem, go to your KSP folder and search for "settings.cfg". Delete this file and set a new start option

( Steam library -> right klick on KSP -> select the option at the bottom (dont know what it means in english ) -> select the Tab "general" -> click on "set startoption" )

write in "LC_ALL=C %command%" (without these charter ["] )

if it wont work at all, I cant help sorry If it works much fun while playing

Since this thread is from several years (and many KSP versions) ago, presumably anyone who had questions back then has long since had them answered (never mind the likelihood of issues being still technically relevant after this many version updates).
