Kethane problem .24.2

Recommended Posts

I don't recall having this issue with kethane before. I have a kethane converter and storage tank stacked with a drill on the side. I have drilled and filled the tank. I am using KAS to connect the converter to a rover with empty fuel tanks. I try and run the converter to produce Fuel and Ox, but the only option I get it rocket fuel and mono. I tried taking KAS out if the picture in the VAB and redesigned to just a converter, kethane tank and empty fuel tank...all stacked and many different configurations. Still no luck. I can only choose to convert to mono and jet fuel. Not sure where to start looking for the issue.

Usually post in that thread are slaughtered with the next release problems (.25 in this case) and other posts are bumped off too quick to be noticed. Thought I would try here first instead of cross-posting.

Are you using the large kethane converter or the small one?

The large one merge the production of Oxidizer and Liquid Fuel in one button and has Monopropellant as the second option (Xenon is the bonus produced element) while the small one has Oxi and Fuel separated (and mono is the bonus). You cannot produce Oxidizer and Liquid Fuel separately with the large converter (unless you have wizard skills or did something I've never done because why would I?)

Note that even if stuff is linked with KAS, the produced fuels usually end up in the nearest tank (and wont overspill into other non-full tanks when full).

You will have to transfer fuel by hand (alt click on the tanks you want to transfer fuel to and fro). You will end up with a stalled production if you don't transfer fuel.

The extractor is on the left. It has no converter. Only a large short kethane tank and two small drills while the one on the right is just the converter. Fuel (both Oxi and Fuel) will be dumped on in the converter's normal fuel tank. Even if full the extractor's fuel tank won't fill up by itself.

You are completely right. My mind must have been on Mun when I was messing with the converter. I kept reading 'rocket fuel' as 'jet fuel'. Thanks for taking the time to reply though. Good info in there and I appreciate it. Can you fix the link in your reply? It just leads to the forum core. I would love to see your processor.

It's a spoiler depliant, not a link (don't be shy, click it).

Still, here is the direct link in case the forum is playing games on us.

P.S. Saw your posts in the actual kethane release thread and the replies following it. I could have made my answer much shorter but I have a bad habit of over-explaining things.

No worries.....the more info the better for me! Nice converter setup by the way. The setup that prompted my question is sitting on Duna. My design is pretty bad so I will have to scrap it and go with a better one. Probably like yours but a bit larger.
