Ships suddenly stop functioning, fly apart, Mun clipping. 0.25

Been a while since I posted, normally.. I don't need to these days.. but this one actually has me stumped. oh and 32bit not 64.

I'm running 0.25 with Deadly Re-Entry, Diazo's Landing Height, KW Rocketry, RCS Build Aid, Real Chute, Stage Recovery and Station Science. Module Manger is updated to 2.5.1 all mods are the latest.

At times when I switch ships to manned ones, they just.. stop functioning, the kerbal is missing from the lower right hand side, the fuel and stage info appears like it's shunted beyond the left hand side of the screen and generally the craft can't be used at all.. except for looking at how much fuel etc etc is in.

this has happened more than once tonight while streaming..

I'm having the same issue. Mods we have in common are: Deadly Re-entry, Stage Recovery, real chute, and module manager. I've just been going through the mods one by one to see which one creates the issue, about half way through, I will mess with it more tonight.

I believe I have the same problem. After vessel is launched into orbit, if I switch back (both from space center and by quickload) I see that crew is gone, parts are glitched/partially invisible, also Kerbin textures are a total mess and what remains of vessel is not controlable.

My common mods with both of you are also Deadly Re-entry, Stage Recovery, real chute, and module manager. I'll try to disable all mods just in case and try again, maybe damage is deeper than I think.

P.S. I'd bet on RealChute first, it had a messy bug before last hotfix that caused all contracts to disappear, so maybe there are more. But that's just a wild guess,

Update: did a test like this: disabled all mods and removed their remains like configs just in case; made new career, launched simple stock craft into orbit, switched back to SC and back to craft - worked fine. Exited game, enabled module manager and stage recovery, loaded game, switched to craft - fine. Exited, enabled RealChute, switched to craft - seemed to be fine. Switch to older save with almost stock craft (excepte RC was enabled and its chutes were used during craft's launch) - bug occured. Alt+F4, loaded most recent save that worked fine before - bug occured. Alt+F4, disabled RealChute, loaded that most recent save again - game works fine.

Seems like one of my favorite modes is causing trouble

Update: done the same test with DRE - nothing. Bug occured only after RC was switche back on and I used quicksave/load (after it occurs first it breaks game, so the best idea is shut game down immediately; savegame may also get broken, it seems).

Kerbin may not always glitch. If bug occurs on save/load, it may be fine, though it should glitch if you switch to space center and back to vessel after things go bad.

P.S. I'll try to re-enable whole bunch of mods I usually use except of RC and start new game, just to be sure.

So real chutes is the problem, darn. I'll confirm this on my end tonight and let you guys know.

Just to verify, we're both using Real Chutes version 1.2.5 correct?

But if you're using 1.2.5 it means that bug appeared even earlier and wasn't discovered until now.

I see that now, I'll have to double check my version.

Edit: After reading through the last few pages of his thread, that's a shame. However, towards are issue, it would appear that forgoing the use of stock parachutes should be a work around for now. I'll see if I can't verify that tonight.

For what it's worth, it does seem to be working fine as long as I only use the real chute parts. For me that's an acceptable work around for now. Hope that helps! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Mystique.

Really hoping he finds the cause quick and fixes it then, Real Chutes = kinda a given these days given it handles Parachutes way better than the stock system which lets face it .. tends to leave your kerbals almost dead

gah just read that stuipid_chris has stopped work that's sad. RC is a major part of the game.. it should actually be how the stock system handles things.
