Is there a chute mod that's maintained?

I don't believe so.

Technically your best bet, in my opinion, is still Real Chute and stay away from the stock chutes.

I agree, RealChute is the best choice. I can't say I recommend Cerebrate's fork. I'm not sure he fully knows what he is doing.

so hey, not trying to start a wildfire here, but what do you mean by "social aspects"? I read through real chute's features and am led to believe that you are not referring to the mods features, but rather something forum side?

As far as I can tell, the latest release (by stupidchris) of RealChute works if you delete RealChute/ModuleManager/Stock_Realchute_MM.cfg. This disables all RealChute functionality on the stock chutes and might screw with staging them (I had to right-click deploy manually when I tested it), but the alternative is either not having stock chutes at all (either deleting them or not using them), or not using RealChute at all.

EDIT: Just to clarify, it might've also been a goof with using MJ's autostage: I was mostly just interested in seeing whether loading a savegame would crash everything again.

Please note that Chris announced that anyone asking for support on the x64 version will lose all rights to support - for x86 too. I am not going to comment on that, as this whole situation is sticky and unnecessary as it is, but just so you know.

To clarify: I don't have a fork. I have a crack.

(Since licensing issues, etc., are being thrown around, this is a distinction I want to make sure is clear, whatever your opinions on the various issues around same are.)
