The Portable Station has been overhauled for KSP 1.0.2!

PORTABLE SPACE STATION

What's better than a space station? A space station

! Kerb-a-DOOchous!!*

This is a fully functional space station core designed to fit within a Mk3 cargo bay (a length of at least one long bay plus one standard bay is required). This is both the most compact and the most feature-rich edition yet, including an ISRU refinery, six standard and junior docking ports, three jumbo docking ports, and reserves of LiquidFuel, Oxidizer, Monopropellant, and XenonGas.

Full feature list:

- ISRU refinery (Note: there is no ore storage on board, so a separate ore tanker should be used in conjunction, such as the Ore Bot available from Para-Sci Applied Sciences Division)

- Accommodations for up to six Kerbals

- Mobile Processing Lab

- Probe core for remote operation

- Nuclear engine providing approximately 800m/s of delta-V without using the reserve fuel, or up to approximately 1400m/s if the reserve is used and the oxidizer omitted (Note: the on-board propulsion should not be activated until the station has been unpacked to ensure full delta-V capability and, more importantly, to avoid damaging modules packed behind the engine!)

- Three jumbo docking ports

- Six standard docking ports

- Six junior docking ports

- LiquidFuel + Oxidizer reserve

- Monopropellant reserve

- XenonGas reserve

- Space Tug featuring Advanced Grabbing Unit to assist in assembly and in installation of additional modules.

*Warning: Not actually Kerbadoochous. Well maybe a little.

Para-Sci Applied Sciences Division presents the Para-Sci Para-portable Para-station. Okay, it's actually just called the portable station.

PORTABLE SPACE STATION

A compact, (reasonably) lightweight station that can fit in a fairing or be attached to larger motherships. Included:

- all three sizes of docking port to accommodate everything from humongous fuel reservoirs to tiny escape pods and probes

- Science! lab and Hitchhiker container to provide a cushy and productive environment for the crew

- LV-N nuclear engines to enable self-deployment within planetary systems. The station can, for example, be towed to Jool on board a mothership and then park itself in orbit around Laythe.

- Wide-angle, low-intensity lights for self-illumination

Hah nice! Great minds think alike!

Before I got the big solar panels I needed a way to cluster the smaller ones to have enough juice to run the science lab.

Mine's a little different. The moving parts are not in a fairing or cargo bay (didn't have those yet either). But I went a different route:

Here's the entire thing ready for launch

And here's where I went a different route. Each solar panel array is its own probe with panels of course for power, and a bit of RCS to reorient themselves into position. They have 2 docking ports, and one of them is at a 90 degree angle:

So I detach and fly each piece individually using the probe's reaction wheel and RCS thrust, no tug ship. Then I end up with this:

I figured that if that wasn't enough power, I could just send up more and keep attaching them.

I could have probably just added 2 sets of 8x radial panels around the fuel tank, but what fun is that?
