those rockets seem to be launching awfully close to buildings/people. and they look like they are al least as powerful as a Saturn V, as one would expect for interstellar travel.

Well, from the video it seems rather that the rockets just are launched into orbit, where the colonists are unloaded into the actual interstellar mothership.

Of course, considering that each of the rockets doesn´t just carry a 3 man capsule + lunar lander, but instead a large number of colonists, they surely must be at least as powerful as a Saturn rocket ... even if it is "just" into orbit.

I was going to say this usually isn't how it works, but I checked steamcharts and there's currently over 3,000 people playing.

. . . and right away, I got a satellite from an escape pod with the following text:

"Inside the Resource Pod you found a basic satellite, still intact, and enough rocket fuel for it to reach escape velocity."

Which would actually be way too much fuel, because as I understand it, the behavior of satellites in the game is to stay inside some orbital layer temporarily and fall back to the planet. Maybe I'm wrong, I just started playing, but I don't think the game has any mechanics that revolve around sending satellites into deep space . . .

I think they meant "orbital velocity," not "escape velocity."
