Is it me or .25 is less stable then 0.24.2 for modded ksp?

Before the update I was playing very well with my modded ksp. Since 0.25 came out, I have th occasional CTD, also my frame rates really dropped.

If no mods are installed, then game runs smoothly (ofc) no complains there. But with mods I got the feeling that 0.25 got a bit more demanding.

My PC is not state of the art, in fact I wish I had money to trow it in the garbage. lol

These are the mods I use in .24 and still using them in 0.025:

- Toolbar

- Active Texture management

- Chatter

- Community Resource Pack

- Fineprint

- KAS

- Navinstruments (ILS for runways)

- Kethane

- KSP-AVC

- MagicSmokeIndustries

- Mechjeb

- Nav ball docking alignment indicator

- ORSX

- Protractor

- Stage Recouver

- Station Science

- Tac Fuel Balancer

- Texture replacer

- Surface Lights

- TAC Life Support

- Umbra Space Industries MKS / OKS

My PC Sepcs (plz do not laugh) :P

5gb ram (I know dont ask)

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000 (2.6mhz)

ATI HD7750

Anyone else have noticed instabilities using the same mods in previous versions of ksp, that now are worse now with 0.25? For example, like me, using the same mods in .24, .24.2 and .25?

I'm not asking for support, I just want to have sense of most of the people that play with the same mods over and over after Squad release a new version, that's why I'm posting this here and not in the support section.

Please comment if you are still using the same mods and Pc hardware (windows 7 64bit).

Oh, and I'm talking about KSP 32bit! I do not play 64bit

I know I'm asking for trouble due to my low specs pc and the ammount of mods I'm using, but in .24 never got a problem except the long loading times for the game to load, but that's normal even now. When i tab-switch and check memory usage, ksp is around 2.8gb on services but overall in total usage on my PC it goes between 3.6 and 4gb. I turn off most of the things I can before playing to release the most memory.Thank you.

I haven't used 0.24.2 for too long, but my observation is that 0.25 is generally less stable, plugins or no. Still nothing as bad as to ruin my day, maybe a crash in every 5-6 hours played, so far no savefile corruption.

I've experienced the exact opposite. In .24.2, 64 and 32 bit, I had semi-frequent crashes while modded. OpenGL ran horribly, though ATM worked very well and kept my RAM load low enough to still run in DX mode. Even in DX though, I had the occasional crash to desktop...and in 64 bit, I actually had blue screen crashes (only times I've seen one of these in years.)

In .25 I've ran nothing but 32 bit, but I've yet to have even a single crash. Even with a heavily modded install, everything runs very smooth. I'm now running OpenGL exclusively, as ATM doesn't seem to give any benefit for some reason (except to make textures look awful with Aggressive), but KSP is running better than ever.

The only weird thing I've seen in .25 is that sometimes my GPU will start working so aggressively that it raises the operating temperature to almost critical levels (80C), but I've yet to pin that issue down to anything specific (it only happens infrequently and seemingly random.) Otherwise, .25 seems much more stable for me than previous versions.

I'm w/ NWDogg, I haven't had any problems whatsoever using .25! I've modded the game with most of the mods that were updated and didn't have a single crash. Now of course I play with fewer as the part catalog was ridiculous to find the parts I was looking for.

OpenGL + .25 my game has never ran this long without crashing. Sure it slows down from time to time but for the most part my game looks fantastic and heavily modified.

Although I haven't had the temperature problem, even after running the game with high part counts for 6-7 hours! So you might want to open it up and reapply some thermal paste or consider upgrading your cooler.

To the OP:

Your problem is probably due to switching the windows. Sometimes that will cause errors unless you're in windowed mode. And my pc was worse than that when I started playing in .23 so I won't say anything about that.

Although w/ 5gb Ram minus the .75-1gb for the OS = 4gb then you're using 2.8 which leaves 1.2 gb for the rest of the processes. You might have a resource hogging up some of the ram you have. I noticed that sometimes a service will have a memory leak and take extra resources and that can cause it to crash too.

Do you run the game with anything else running? Maybe your entire PC is running out of ram...

Just as a general note, let's not confuse "is this version more or less stable" with "does this version, unmodded, use more memory." Because if you *add* the same amount of memory-using mods, to an install with a higher existing memory footprint, you are more likely to get occasionally out-of-memory crashes than you were before.
