Lag when heat and air effects are added

Recommended Posts

So I have a lag problem.

I launch my rockets and at a height of 23-35km heat... or reentry effects... show up when the vessels speed is above 800m/s.

Also at lower altitudes, the heat effects are replaced by some kind of air effect.

At these moments the game start to lag a lot, and then - when getting above 35km - and I guess above the atmosphere, the game runs smooth again.

Question is - is this simply a memory based problem that I may solve with memory reduction mods... or is it something else?

Any clues?

(I searched the forum without finding a solution)

yeah drop down the detail on aero effects. and/or zoom out further from your vessel. I think the FX is a post effect and the more screen space pixels they take up, the longer it takes to render the frame, which eats up your FPS

Not likely a memory problem, that usually happens during load time.

I suspect your GPU is not up to the chore of showing the effects. Which GPU are you using and at what resolution? Does the lag disappear if you turn the aero effects down in the graphics settings?

Upgrading this machine is the next thing on my "to buy list", it is getting realy old :)

I'm not sure how I answer the GPU question.

I got:

Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 5800 series with 2809MB. I run 1920x1080 resolution.

Intel Core 2 Dup CPU 3GHz and 4000MB RAM

I'll try to lower the aero effects.
