Has anyone imported .24 craft into .25?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure planes for .24 wont work, but how about non space plane parts. I have some .24 multi purpose craft that I know WORK, and it sure would save me time in the VAB plus tweak time, if I knew they wouldn't ... my .25 career save.

Thanks in advance.

The only issue I had that I'm aware of was with the new sas part being smaller than the old ones. I had to find strategic ways to place them without messing the original design of my ships that use them.

@Landge: I have a rocket which now has that part in a stack, noticeably smaller than when it launched. It seems fine now, being just a tiny one meant to take a rover to Vall, but I had to replace them with the other part that's still 1.25 meters.

Other than that, I don't remember any major changes to any already existing parts. Why wouldn't a craft from 0.24 work in 0.25?

Rockets are fine, it's what I spent my first week or so on 0.25 testing. The only listed differences are in the size of the Inline Reaction Wheel, which won't affect anything but the way something looks, and the mass and drag of the Cupola, which will improve anything using it.

Planes 'might' work, but there were a lot of changes to wings and control-surfaces so, at least, they'll benefit from a re-design.

I loaded a couple of planes from 0.24.2 in to 0.25, and they looked a mess. The SAS I was using is smaller in 0.25, which showed up as gaps between the cockpit and the fuselage. The new MkI cockpit is a lot sleeker, which I felt ruined the look of some of my designs. The final straw is that they have changed the existing delta wings and controls surfaces, rather than add the new designs alongside the existing ones, and this has completely ruined the look of my pride and joy, a Harrier jump jet imitation. It's for this reason that I have gone back to 0.24.2 and will probably stick with that, as I am not a fan of anything else they updated with 0.25 either.

The mass of Small Gear Bays now counts as well; that's another change from 0.24 to 0.25 - and an important one, especially if you're used to building your plane, setting the center of lift where it needs to be, and then adding the wheels. The CoM from the wheels now counts instead of being something you can ignore.

I got to say, I'm a might disappointed with the new spaceplane parts. I'd've thought that they could've added some that would make it to where you wouldn't have to toss twelve wings on your planes, or three intakes per engine. Hardly any improvement there at all...
