How to best make your ship explode.

Perhaps an odd question, but what's the most efficient way to make a ship just blow up, without crashing it into something else?

For example, lets say I wanna build a fairly standard looking launch vehicle, but I want it to blow into a million pieces on the launch pad. Or perhaps I want to put a ship into orbit, then blow it up there. Essentially, I'm looking for a self-destruct button I can tie to an action key.

I should mention that I'm referring to stock, and would definitely like an answer to that, but I'm also curious if there's a mod that adds something like that. A bomb that just blows up when triggered. That'd be pretty cool.

A well placed sepratron is all you need, really. Heat up the right part and you can end up splitting your ship in two. I speak from experience.

There is a mod, although I forget the name. I believe you can attach self destruct devices to parts either in the VAB/SPH or via Kerbal on EVA. Wish I could remember the name for you.

You're thinking of TAC Self-Destruct, which according to the blurb is a small attachable (even using KAS) stick of explosives that will blow up anything it got the good fortune to be next to.

Not tried it myself though. I'm not in the demolition business. Well, not voluntarily so at least

You could probably just duplicate a part, and then lower its max temperature.

Ie have your oragne tank overheat and explode within seconds of the mainsail below it firing.... or something like that?
