What input device(s) do you use with KSP?

Logitech extreme 3d pro and kb/m. My joystick piloting skills are still severely lacking so I tend to switch back and forth depending on my comfort levels during a mission. I'm looking into a 3d mouse and building my own HMI with awesome switches and buttons and dials and such.

I'll just leave this here:

It is due for a major overhaul, I want a a couple of 7-seg LED displays to show AP/PE and time to reach it. And use some of the techniques shown in the video a couple of days ago in the daily Kerbal. It will all have to wait until Christmas holidays though, time is always running short this time of the year.

I do not think I would be able to play KSP without a thruster, the rest is more or less just gravy.

KB: I use an Apple keyboard which is wonderful to type on, nearly useless for gaming (ghosting issues). (also it's white, who thought that was a good idea).

Mouse: Razer Ouroboros, which is awesome. I always like having extra customizable buttons on mice and this one has just enough. I've got the leftside thumb buttons bound to RCS translate forward and back, and the lower button to toggle map mode. The two right side buttons toggle the navball and toggle brakes, then the top two buttons are bound to [] for switching craft.

Sometimes I use a joystick, but mostly just for docking, I suck at flying with one!

I'm using keyboard and mouse for rockets and in space. For planes under atmospheric conditions a TH Warthog with CH Pro pedals.

For the analog input devices i have to decrease the sensetivity to nearly zero and increase the deadzone a lot. It would be good if squad implements a function, witch uses a progressive output of the input reading. In that way you would have a bigger space for movements of your flight-/joystick for small adjustments.

Currently using just mouse and keyboard, this is just for practice/goofoff sesssions. Prefer to use the thrustmaster t 15000 during my tough as nails carreer. The t 15000 seemed to work just fine, so, I got another one. The axis on both sticks work independantly of each other. Unfortunatley, not the buttons. The buttons from the first joystick are mapped over to the other stick. Only solution I found was to construct a script using TARGET. Now, after reading that joystick support could change, I might just hold off writing the script.

Ack. I submitted the survey saying keyboard and mouse, completely forgetting the time I hooked up a simple digital controller for some rover driving.

In the settings I saw the whole "6DOF only under Windows" thing, and I assumed it meant no joysticks or analogue gamepads would work with KSP under Linux. I now fear I was wrong there, anyone know?

You can use any input device that supports the legacy "joystick" interface (/dev/input/js*), if the newer "evdev" interface is supported as well I don't know. (See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Joystick for details)

I'm using a Wiimote with Classic Controller under Linux (with a modified cwiid driver), which registers as joystick to KSP. In this configuration, one can simply map the axes of the analogue sticks to pitch, yaw and roll. I'm using the shoulder buttons for throttle control, and plus and minus for staging/SAS. For translation I'm using A, B, X and Y, combined with the other 2 shoulder keys. But now, that people were writing about using 3D mice, I'm tempted to try to use the motion sensors of the wiimote as input. :D

Let me know when. That sounds like a great idea.

This awesome project turned a wiimote into a E-Whiteboard. Could two orthogonal wiimotes a glove (John Anderton) with a few IR-LEDs give us 3D whitespace "spatial operating environment" interface?

I have a Steel Series gaming keyboard with left hand ergonomic controls (I got it mostly because it's backlit) and a five button mouse. The left hand controls are more than adequate for most operations.

the Merc Stealth? if so you have a built in version of what im using, sadly there no longer being made.
